We're proud to introduce our new T-SPORT line of race-oriented products.

Rev-Lite is the only commercially available 6 LED Sequential Shift Light in the world. Bringing the latest technology, as used on the Grand Prix circuits of the world, to the regular car enthusiast or racer.

Flat-Shift
is our new launch control unit for drag racers. It can eliminate those frustrating and sometimes embarrassing "bog downs" off the line by perfectly matching revs to your pre-set limit allowing for perfect launches every single time.

Rev-Lite represents the next generation in shift light technology. It is a self contained unit designed to be mounted on top of your dash pod or within your stock instrument cluster. All the electronics required to operate the 6 sequential lights are housed within the one ultra low line enclosure which measures only W 60 mm X L 60 mm X H 12mm.

1000 RPM Bandwidth

What makes Rev-Lite so much more advanced when compared to an old fashioned "Flash Light" style shift light is that it covers a 1,000 rpm bandwidth (on a 4 cyl engine). This means that if the redline is set at, for example 7,000 rpm, the 1st light will come on at 6,000 rpm while the rest will come on in 200 rpm steps until the redline is reached. (bandwidth on 6 and 8 cyl engines is Proportionally less)

Click on the photo to download a 10Mb Windows Media video of an RX-7 lapping a US race track with the Rev-Lite operating on top of the dash (video should start playing once 15% is downloaded). You will see the Rev-Lite LED's begin to light up once the tachometer hits redline. Notice how much easier it is to see the lights than the oversized tach's needle.

In practice, on a high powered engine, this all happens almost in the blink of an eye and this is the exact reason why Rev-Lite was developed so that you never miss a shift point and you don't have to keep looking down at the tachometer on your dash while you're accelerating hard on the street or track and need to focus on traffic, cornering, etc

High Visibility

Rev-Lite has been designed specifically to be visible within the drivers peripheral view. It uses standard 3 mm LEDs with careful consideration given to visibility during daylight hours. The purpose designed enclosure shades the body of each LED so that the anode and cathode are always protected from direct sunlight. There is also a small lip around the face of Rev-Lite to offer more of a shaded area.

Formula1 technology
The steering wheel is also used to house instrumentation, normally via a multi-function LCD display screen and - more visibly - the ultra-bright 'change up' lights that tell the driver the perfect time for the optimum gearshift.

The choice of light colours has been selected to maximize use via peripheral vision. Red was chosen for the 1st 4 LEDs as they don't create much glare at night, but on early prototypes it was found that it is hard to tell if 4 or 6 were lit out the corner of your eye if they were all red, so the last 2 LEDs are yellow and green as green seems the most intense LED colour available. Consequently there is a noticeable increase in brightness when the green LED comes on. You won't have a problem with visibility in sunlight, and you won't be blinded at night like you would with 'flash light' style shift lights.

Easy to Install

Suitable for all Makes & Models
Rev-Lite is suitable for installation on any gasoline engine including rotaries with any type of ignition system including single coil or multi coil ignition systems. Any car/bike that uses a standard tachometer can use Rev-Lite as it operates using the exact same signal from the ignition coil.

Easily Adjusted
Rev-Lite can be set to display revs at anywhere between idle & 12,000rpm (on a 4cyl) just by rotating the thumb wheel on the side of the unit. There aren't any switches and you don't need to buy additional 'pils' to adjust for different engine configurations as Rev-Lite's range of adjustment is broad enough to cover any rpm point you desire.

Simple 3 Wire Hook Up
Rev-Lite has only 3 wires to hook up. Simple connections for:

1. 12 volt power (via your accessories circuit in the fuse box)
2. earth to the cars chassis
2. tachometer signal, usually from the negative terminal on your ignition coil. If you own a multi coil car you will only need to locate the tacho signal from your computer which will be avalible either from the wiring loom near the computer itself or from the ignition power module

**Please Note: Rev-Lite is a fully functional tachometer that in effect displays only a 1,000 rpm portion of the rev range. Therefore Rev-Lite will work anywhere a standard tachometer is present as it requires the very same pulse signal.**

We've all seen it at the Drag Races. A typical pro stock car pulls up to the christmas tree, stages and just as the lights start counting down the engine hits full throttle seeming to bounce off a rev limiter. In fact, the driver has just pushed the accelerator pedal absolutley flat to the floor and he doesn't lift off until the car passes the finish line because the engine has a launch control and flat shift system installed. Once a feature only available to professional race teams or those willing to install a big dollar after market engine management system, TEKNIQ has now made this feature available to all car enthusiasts.

Builds Full Boost on the Start Line

Flat-Shift drag launch control is the perfect accessory for high powered turbo supercars as full boost launches become second nature with a pre-set secondary rev limiter allowing the turbo to spool up while the car is stationary. No more blipping the throttle in the vain hope of building up some boost!
Click on the photo to download a 1Mb Quicktime video of a Talon using the Flat-Shift to perform a 6000rpm launch at the strip. Notice the sound at WOT. This is the system holding the revs at the driver's pre-set limit of 6000rpm, while maintaining full boost, for a perfect take off.

Allows Wide Open Throttle Gearchanges

Flat-Shift can eliminate those frustrating and sometimes embarrassing "bog downs" off the line by perfectly matching revs to your pre-set limit every single time. You never lose boost between gear changes either. The system allows full boost to be retained on up shifts as your right foot never has to leave the floor because the Flat-Shift cuts engine power for the fraction of a second that you have the clutch pedal down meaning your engine has no time to bleed boost pressure between gears.

How Does it Work?

Flat shift uses a RISC Microprocessor that runs at 4 MHz ( 1 Million Instructions Per Second ) that monitors engine rpm 50 times per second. If rpm is equal to or above the set 'trigger' rpm level and the clutch pedal is depressed, Flat-Shift cuts power to the fuel injectors via the main 12v power rail. Some multi coil systems also have the positive side of their ignition coils on the same 12v bus so spark is cut at the same time. As a back up for cars with their ignition coils on a seperate 12v supply, Flat-Shift features an output that connects to the crank angle sensor to turn off the timing signal while power is being reduced which will also cut spark. Better than a BOV for keeping a turbo spooled, Flat-Shift primarily uses fuel cut to reduce power and keep rpm at the set 'trigger' point because on modern EFI, catalytic converter equiped cars it is not wize to use an ignition only rev limiter as unburnt fuel passing through the cat will very quickly destroy it. Ignition cut is used in tandem with fuel cut so that miss firing and leaning out are minimized during the power reduction cycle.

Why Fuel and Spark must BOTH be cut

Old style spark only rev limiters where designed to operate on old fashioned carby and dizzy type engines. They operated by intermittently grounding the negative side of the single ignition coil to cut spark.

A rev limiter designed for a modern EFI motor needs to cover a few more bases.

1. A spark only system on an EFI car will allow raw fuel straight through the engine and will rapidly contaminate the catalytic converter and destroy it. Excess fuel will also wash the bores and contaminate the engine oil system risking long term bottom end damage.

2. Most modern EFI cars have multi coil ignition systems which bare no resemblance to old dizzy and points systems so you can't simply ground a coil to the same effect.

3. A fuel cut only system runs the risk of leaving small amounts of fuel flowing through the engine which may ignite risking lean burn and engine damage.

The most effective and safest method of reducing power output independent of throttle position (i.e. WOT) is to stop fuel supply and simultaneously cut spark activity to eliminate any possible lean burns situations. On an EFI car, it's the only safe way of rev limiting.

Install and Setup

Installing Flat-Shift is generally fairly simple as the main 12v power bus for the fuel injectors usually runs through the vehicles fuse box so is easy to locate and tap into. This source is also used to provide power for Flat-Shifts electronics. Other connections include hooking up the tacho signal, connecting to the crank angle sensor (if needed), mounting and connecting the clutch switch along with a good earth connection and that's about it. The system comes with a color keyed wiring harness and full instruction manual.

We'd suggest setting Flat-Shift approx 2,000 rpm below your red line or shift point for optimum performance. Rev-Lite is perfect for keeping an eye on your shift point without having to keep looking down at the tacho.

Setting the RPM level you require on launch and shifts is as simple as holding down the 'set' button when you start the engine, ( 2 LEDs on the front panel will flash once letting you know you have put Flat-Shift into 'set' mode) bring the engine revs up to where you want and release the 'set' button ( the 2 LEDs will flash twice to confirm your new setting) Each new RPM setting is burned into the Flat-Shifts EEPROM and stays set even if the battery is removed from the vehicle.

Why do it?

No matter if you're at the drag strip or on the street, Flat-Shift allows you to claim the 10ths of a second per gear change you'll need to beat the competition. Not to mention the ability to blast off the line on full boost giving you almost unbelievable 60ft times! Try to imagine how much extra horsepower you would need to gain those 10ths otherwise, and how much that power would cost. Flat-Shift gives you the technological advantage only the pro's used to have access to, at an affordable price.
